|“The Leadership Challenge is one of my favorite books. The Offsite goes one step further by showing how great ideas can be put into practice. We can all lead from the heart. The Offsite shows how—it’s a wonderful book.”Marshall Goldsmith, author of What Got you Here Won’t Get You There
“Robert Thompson has written a gem. Reading this work you are a voyeur at the best “offsite” you’ve ever attended; yet he allows us to experience the true essence of leadership without ever leaving home. We’ve each been one of these characters; or perhaps more accurately we have each been all of them. If you are interested in the practice of leadership rather than just theory, then you’ll use every word you read here.”
Terry Pearce, Author of Leading Out Loud. Founder/President Leadership Communication and Forum on Cross-Cultural Inspiration.
“Robert Thompson brings a fresh, provocative voice to the leadership discussion. The Offsite is a fabulous debut, and I’m eagerly awaiting the next installment of Mr. Thompson’s ‘thought grenades’. “Robert Thompson nailed it! Entertaining and on point, this compelling story unpacks the groundbreaking Kouzes Posner model in a refreshing new way. An inspiring tale that will make you laugh, cry and understand that leadership is a choice, not a position. Read this book and be prepared to make a mark in the world!”

I greatly enjoyed the book and was able to personally relate to several of the characters. In particular I developed an affinity for Gwen, the young sales director struggling to find her way in a new department at a new company. I highly recommend this book to any sales professional looking to take a step beyond the typical non fiction prose that we have become accustomed to.
This is a great book for anyone wanting to learn the key leadership principles in life regardless of their title or position. Couple of weeks ago I was given a job description and one of the requirements listed was to demonstrate the 5 principles of Exemplary Leadership. Wow – what a gift I received in the form of that job description. I read the book by Kouzes and Posner – The Leadership Challenge first and then I read this book. The Offsite connects the 5 principles by Kouzes and Posner very well and actually enhances their understanding. Leadership is a choice and this book shows why. If you are serious about Leadership in your family, community and business then you need to read The Offsite: A Leadership Challenge Fable together with The Leadership Challenge.
